Appreciates ‘generous donations’ for egg hunt
Residents want another look at AgSTEM project
To the Editor:
On March 10, a group of concerned residents attended the (Washington) selectmen’s meeting to present approximately 80 signatures calling for a town hall meeting airing our feelings about VoAg.
The signatures were to be validated by the Washington Town Clerk, as to authenticity.
At that time, we would like the Board of Education for Region 12 to afford us the opportunity of having a new referendum on the matter.
When the first referendum was voted on, parents of our children and other residents were given misinformation on the program regarding cost and number of students needed to participate.
However, it has now come to light that everything has changed. Costs are going up and children that wanted shop for other vocations have been taken out of the curriculum.
We have other such programs in nearby vicinities, Woodbury and Litchfield.
Pupil population has been depleting every year and to have this program in Region 12 will be a stretch.
While obtaining these signatures, I have felt the pulse of parents and other residents saying that they are against it and would like to have it repealed.
Our taxes will increase substantially because we will have the burden of paying for it. The State of Connecticut is cutting back on many programs; how can they justify this grant?
To the Editor:
New Milford Parks and Recreation Department would like to thank Jacqui at CVS and Walmart for their generous donations for the Easter egg hunt.
More than 400 youngsters had fun collecting and the eggs and candy.
Many thanks to volunteers Rick Radcliff, Robert Baker, Colin Murphy and the whole Murphy family, and Frank McEntee, and, of course, the Easter Bunny, for making a personal appearance.
Special thanks to the bunny helpers at the Parks and Recreation offices who filled all the eggs with candy and toys and made up the prize table.
The Easter egg festivities would not happen without their dedication.
