Appreciate support of Kent library's 'soiree'
To the Editor:
Set among the rolling hills, ponds and vistas of Historic Iron Mountain Farm, the Kent Memorial Library Association held its Summer Solstice Soiree June 21.
Approximately 350 guests and library supporters enjoyed the generous hospitality of host Agnes Gund.
The farmhouse, barns, gardens and fields provided an amazing backdrop for the exciting evening.
"Farm to Table" style food was prepared by some of Kent's finest chefs and cooks.
The generosity of local restaurants and businesses, including the Fife'n Drum Restaurant, the Villager, Davis IGA and Kent Wine and Spirit made the evening even more successful.
None of this could have been possible without the strength of so many wonderful volunteers. Volunteers are what make the library and the town of Kent so special.
Thank you to the following volunteers:
Tony Antonios, John Baker, Jim Blackketter, Gini Blacketter, Jan Bornn, Jim Brownell, Beth Dooley, Sandra Edelman, Kory Elsesser, Susan Forbes, Ira Goldspiel, Eve Iselin, Susan Kennedy, Betty Krasne, Diane Lang, Michaela Lawrence, Maria La Fontan and Abigail La Fontan.
Special thanks to the amazing staff at the Kent Memorial Library, who time and again work tirelessly to make things so special.
It was exciting to see so many new and familiar faces who came to support the outstanding programs.
We wish to thank all of the attendees for supporting our special library.
Guests had a chance to increase their support by bidding on exceptional silent auction items, fun chances, and an opportunity to "Fill a Wish."
None of this could be done without one special person. The co-chairwomen send a big thank you to library marketing and events director Lucy Pierpont.
This event is but one of the many things that support the library. More than two-thirds of the revenue for the library is privately raised to enable the hundreds of programs we supply each year.
Please continue to support us by visiting our summerlong book sale and our car raffle.
