To the Editor:

A special thanks to all who helped with this year's 10th annual Swanson/Horrigan Scholarship.

Wow. Who could believe what started out 10 years ago down on Young's Field in New Milford with a handful of teams and a barbecue grill could grow to become one of the most highly recognized softball tournaments around?

We meet people from all around each and every day who state they can't wait to come back and support this great cause.

Some even say we should hold this twice a year.

Your constant support and dedication keeps this special weekend going strong. Lynda and I can't thank you enough for all you have done and continue to do in memory of the boys.

You truly are our inspiration and you give us the courage to move forward and try to help others in need. Our sincere thanks go out to all who participated in this year's 10th annual Swanson/Horrigan softball tournament.

Special thanks go out to Dave and Mark Lyon and the umpires for running the games.

Thanks to our Crew, the town of Washington, Parks & Recreation, the Washington town crew, The Gunnery crew, the Washington Volunteer Fire Department, Washington Food Market and all the local businesses and people for their generous time and donations.

We would like to say thank you to all the team sponsors and players for their participation. Without your help and support, this event would not be possible.

Each year, people of Washington and surrounding towns come together to create a family atmosphere that can be felt by those who come out to enjoy this weekend. We are sincerely blessed by the number of people that comes out to raise money for this great cause and celebrate the lives of three very wonderful young men.

Our lives will never be same with the absence of our boys but, at the end of each day, we are sincerely grateful to everyone who keeps their memory in their hearts.

We would like to say thank you again to all who made this weekend special to us. Your constant generosity and yearly contribution help young students of Shepaug achieve their goals.

We look forward to seeing you all next year.

Help a friend, give to someone in need, spend time with your loved ones and have a safe and healthy year.

Al and Lynda Swanson
