Applicants must have demonstrated leadership in community and/or school activities, and encourage or support community growth; and have spent the last year of school at NMHS. �The Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce Scholarship: Deadline: April 28. Open to students who have a parent or guardian who works for a business that is a member of the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce or is employed by a business which is a member of the Chamber, and who has demonstrated community service and a need for financial assistance. Applications available in NMHS guidance office at the Chamber office at 11 Railroad St.

�Connecticut Reading Conference $2,000 Scholarship: Deadline: April 30. Open to New Milford High School senior who plans to pursue a career in education. Applicant must be a New Milford resident and have maintained at least a "B" average during this academic year. Applications available in NMHS guidance office.

�Roger Sherman Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship: Deadline: May 1. Open to any New Milford High School senior who plans to attend college in the fall of 2008 and who has demonstrated an interest in American history and community service. Applications available at NMHS guidance office.

�Ann Magoun Scholarship Award: Deadline: May 5. Open to graduates of Sherman School who plan to further their education. Applications available in Sherman School office.

�Bridgewater Scholarships: Deadline: May 15. Open to Bridgewater residents who plans to pursue higher education. Applications available at Bridgewater's town hall, Shepaug Valley High School, Union Savings Bank and Burnham Library. Applicants must register for an interview on the sign-up sheet at town hall, available as of May 1.

�Kent Center School Scholarship: Deadline: May 15. Open to any graduate of Kent Center School who attended both seventh and eighth grade there. Scholarship available for four years with a new application made each year. May be used for full-time undergraduate or graduate studies, as well as vocational and technical training. �Art scholarship in memory of Sara Rose Hackett: Deadline: May 30. Sponsored by Sherman Parent/Teacher Organization. Residents of Sherman, who will be graduating from high school and plan to pursue a college degree in the arts, are invited to apply for the scholarship.
