Applications for scholarships now available
Following are some of the scholarship funds currently accepting applications from students in Greater New Milford this year.
Roxbury-Bridgewater Garden Club Scholarship: Deadline: April 8. Awards of up to $1,500 to graduating Shepaug Valley School graduating seniors, and college undergraduates and technical school or certificate program students who reside in Roxbury or Bridgewater and will major in conservation, horticulture, botany, agronomy, land management, landscape design, environmental studies and allied subjects. Must possess suitable GPA and be in financial need. Special attention will be given to students who have a history of environmentally related community service or employment history in related fields. Washington Environmental Council scholarship -- the Ken Williams Memorial Scholarship: Deadline: April 11. Grants of up to $1,000 to middle, high school and college students who live in Washington, Roxbury and Bridgewater, provided they attend or attended school in Washington, and who would like to attend environmentally oriented programs during the summer. Washington residents will have preference, but all other application factors will be equal. For more information, visit www.wec-ct.org/scholarships.
Washington Environmental Council scholarship -- Mary Anne Erichsen Memorial Scholarship: Deadline: April 11. Grants of up to $2,000 available to students from Washington, Roxbury or Bridgewater who are in sound scholastic standing, provided the student attended or has attended high school in Washington. Residents of Washington will have preference, all other application factors being equal. Applications available at www.wec-ct.org/scholarships.
Roxbury scholarships: Deadline: April 22. Open to those who are Roxbury residents at time of award ceremony, and accepted into an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or state approved school for trade instruction or special occupational training that offers a degree or certification. Part-time students with extenuating circumstances will be considered. Warren Historical Society Scholarships: Deadline:, May 1. Open to students who are residents, or who have been residents, and attended Warren School for at least two consecutive years. Two $1,000 scholarships available. Application must include a project, which must be approved by the scholarship board. The George Laurence Nelson Art Scholarship: Deadline: May 2. Offered by the Kent Historical Society. Scholarship of $1,000 is open to any graduating senior who plans to further their education in studio art or art history. Open to a graduating senior or college student, who is a graduate of Kent Center School or whose family resides in one of the towns of Region 1. Applications available at guidance offices.
