Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Sherman will hold its 22nd annual Appalachian craft fair July 13-15. The fair will be open July 13 from noon to 6 p.m., July 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and July 15 from noon to 5 p.m. at the church in Sherman Center.

The fair began when Mary McKeon saw a way to "help others to help themselves" while she and others drove donated clothing and small household items to Appalachia.

Impressed with the quality of the handcrafts from and moved by the economic challenges of the region, she and others loaded an empty truck with crafts and launched the first fair at the local church.

Hand-woven baskets, table runners and placemats, wooden items, stools, brooms, toys, hand-quilted bed quilts, aprons, pillows, stained glass and hand-thrown pottery are among the items that will be sold.

One hundred percent of craft sales will be returned to crafters.
