Antiques show on tap in Washington
The 26th annual Washington Antiques Show will be held Oct. 5-7.
The event, which is a fundraiser for Gunn Memorial Library & Museum, will open with a preview cocktail party Oct. 5 at Bryan Memorial Town Hall.
New this year will be a collector's party Oct. 6.
Allegra Levy and her quarter from New York City will perform.
The show will be open Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Oct. 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the town hall.
"Many of our show-goers work or live out of town, making attendance at the Friday evening preview night difficult," said event chairwoman Susan Bednar Long, who is also a Gunn Memorial trustee and interior designer.
"We decided to add the Saturday collector's party, a lively departure from Friday's event, to accommodate their schedules and to provide the opportunity for these people to get in on the fun of an evening party, though I already hear that many are planning to attend both evenings," she said.
Rod Pleasants, a Gunn Memorial trustee and longtime former show chairman, is honorary chairman.
The show will feature 20 dealers from around the northeast.
Larger furnishings and works of art will be displayed on the main floor.
Jewelry, intimate furniture and decorative accessories, as well as an assortment of designer table settings fashioned by renowned interior designers, including Karen Davis, Florence de Dampierre and Philip Gorrivan, will be displayed upstairs.
A silent auction will be held in conjunction with both evening events.
Tickets to the preview cocktail party and the collector's party are $125 and up each.
Admission to the show is $10 payable at the door.Reservations for the preview and party are recommended by calling 860-868-7586 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
