Updated 12:00 am, Wednesday, March 21, 2018
State Representative Bill Buckbee (R-67th) will serve as host for an anti-bullying forum March 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in New Milford.
The free forum, to be held at The Maxx on Railroad Street, will include an expert panel to discuss what parents can do if they suspect or know that a child is being bullied.
“Bullying is not acceptable in any way, shape, or form. It’s important to understand that bullying is a real issue in our community and across the country,” Buckbee said. “I look forward to participating in this panel so we can provide as many resources to the parents of New Milford school children as possible to help them intervene in situations of suspected bullying.”
Parents are welcome to bring questions or comments to the forum.
The panel of experts will provide advice and will answer questions from those in attendance at the forum.
The panelists include Jason O’Connor of the New Milford Youth Agency; Josh Smith, superintendent of New Milford Public Schools; Christopher Longo, principal of Schaghticoke Middle School; Joe Locascio, NMHS Resource Officer, with the New Milford Police Department; Leslie Carson of the Connecticut State Department of Education Turnaround Office; and Scott Hoffman, health teacher at Schaghticoke Middle School.
Those who cannot make the forum but would like to share feedback can email Buckbee at Bill.Buckbee@housegop.ct.gov or call his office in Hartford at 860-240-8700.
