Anthony John Daria, 66, of Pleasant Valley, N.Y., died June 5 at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx, N.Y.

He was born May 6, 1947, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Henry and Nancy (Tronolone) Daria.

He was a Vietnam veteran who served in the United States Navy Mobile Construction Battalion (the Seabees) from 1966-69, during which time he was awarded several medals.

He worked for many years as a pipefitter, and was also a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Union, Local 21, from which he retired.

He enjoyed the arts, spending time with his grandchildren and engaging in lively discourse on current events.

He is survived by his sons, Peter, and his wife, Mindy, of Hamden, and Justin, of Danbury; his children's mother, Katherine (Arnold), of New Milford; two grandchildren, Caroline and David; seven siblings, Geraldine; Paul, and his wife, Enza; Salvatore, and his wife, Olivia; Virginia Spiro; Bernard; Gerard; Peter, and his wife, Sue; 13 nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Frances, and a brother, Raymond.

The Green Funeral Home in Danbury was in charge of the arrangements.

He spent the last several years helping individuals struggling with alcohol and drug addictions. To honor his commitment, memorials may be made to a regional drug and alcohol treatment facility of one's choice.
