Anna Rubino, 85, had a son in New Milford

Anna Margaret (Valla) Rubino, 85, of Torrington, died Dec. 22, 2008, at Litchfield Woods Nursing Home after courageously battling cancer for two years. She was the wife of the late Fred "Bud" Rubino.

She was born Sept. 22, 1923, in Torrington, daughter of Matthew and Katherine (Krafcik) Valla.

She was a graduate of Torrington High School and lived in Torrington all her life. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and Altar Society.

For more than 20 years, she worked in the lab at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.

She looked forward to summer vacations at Hampton Beach, N.H. and trips to Mohegan Sun. She enjoyed playing Bingo, doing crossword puzzles and making gifts for her family and friends.

She is survived by two sons, Fred and his wife Nancy of New Milford and Tom and his wife Debbie of South Portland, Maine; four grandchildren, Jocelyn, Jeffrey, Nikki and Katie; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Mamie Copacino; and four brothers, John, Andrew, Matthew and Steven Valla.

The LaPorta-Cook Funeral Home of Torrington was in charge of arrangements.
