Angelo Mariano, 84, father of area residents

Angelo Mariano, 84, of Danbury, died at Danbury Hospital Jan. 25, 2011. He was the husband of 58 years to Margaret (Senecka) Mariano,

Mr. Mariano was born May 28, 1926, in Redding, Pa., son of the late Frank and Carina (Gualano) Mariano.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army, 11th Armored Division, in the Battle of Europe.

Mr. Mariano was the vice president of Mariano Brothers, Inc., from 1951 until his retirement in 1987.

He was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God in Brookfield and was instrumental in the rigging and construction of the new church.

Mr. Mariano was an avid gardener who loved to share his fruits and vegetables.

He was a beloved and respected member of his family and is remembered by family members for always having a smile and a song for everyone.

His positive attitude after his stroke inspired his family and friends.

Mr. Mariano is survived by a son, Frank J. Mariano and his wife, Annie, of Bridgewater; a daughter, Donna M. Montesi and her husband, Bill, of Danbury; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Silvestri and her husband, Jack, of Danbury; five grandchildren, Angelo Mariano and his wife, Kelly, Carina Webber and her husband, Kurt, Meghan Mariano and Melissa and Christine Montesi; and three great-grandchildren, Grace and Bobby Mariano and Noah Webber.

He is also survived by two brothers, Joseph Mariano and his wife, Frances, of Brookfield, and the Rev. Daniel Mariano and his wife, Patti, of Norwalk; two sisters, Grace Re, of White Plains, N.Y., and Rose Re, of Delaware; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his first wife, he was predeceased by his second wife, Margaret Harrington; a son, Michael A. Mariano; three brothers, Anthony, Peter and David Mariano; and a sister, Emily Thomas.

Burial will be held privately.

The Cornell Memorial Home of Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
