Idyllic weather and a bevy of events and attractions helped make the Kent Sidewalk Festival a success this summer.

Hosted July 29 to Aug. 1 throughout the village center by the Kent Chamber of Commerce, the annual mid-summer event was greeted by "throngs of people," according to Chamber reports.

Patrons strolled up and down the streets, enjoying food, performances and plentiful sales.

More than 35 businesses contributed gift certificates, tickets and memberships to the "shopping spree" drawing held the final afternoon.

Michelle Devaux of Silver Spring, Md. went home with the first prize while Helen Gambino of Brewster, N.Y. Kat Germano of Millbrook, N.Y. also won prizes.

The festival marked the beginning of a busy late summer/early fall for Kent.

Upcoming are performances by the Sherman Chamber Ensemble and the Earl Mosley Dancers, the Fireman's Fair and Parade, and the Pumpkin Run on Halloween weekend.
