Allen Anthony Perkowski, 44, died Jan. 13 at his home in Southbury.

Mr. Perkowski was born Sept. 28, 1968, in Stamford, where he resided until he relocated to Southbury in 1984.

He was born with a wrench in his hand. He was mentored by his grandfather, Joseph Jonosky, whom he was very close to. They worked side by side around Stamford and later Southbury.

Mr. Perkowski graduated from Pomperaug High School in Southbury and went on to the Automotive Technical Institute, where he received his ASE certification.

He was a master mechanic for Amaral Motors in Newtown. He could fix just about anything.

He was known as a caring and devoted friend who was always on call to help people out, whether one's car was stuck or one's furnace went on the fritz.

Mr. Perkowski is survived by his father, Frank Bartholomew, and his mother, Arlene, of Southbury; his daughter, who was his pride and joy, Shaina Evanko, of New Milford; two sisters, Christina Goggin, and her husband, Dennis, of Wolcott, and Noelle Bartholomew, of Wilton; two nephews, Scott J Chmielewski and Dennis J Goggin III, both of Wolcott; and a niece, Kimberly A.
