Albert Deeds, 82, served in the Navy

Mr. Deeds was born Feb. 15, 1929, in Reading, Pa., son of the late Albert Harry and Elva Deeds.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Mr. Deeds was employed by the former Elwood Well and Drain Tile in Brookfield for more than 25 years, retiring in 1979.
After retirement, he worked doing property maintenance in Roxbury.
Mr. Deeds was a collector of such things as pocket watches, coins, swords, and Hess trucks.
He enjoyed growing flowers, especially sunflowers, but he most loved being a grandfather.
Mr. Deeds has been a resident of New Milford for more than 15 years.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Deeds is survived by three sons, Kenneth H. Deeds, of Kent, John A. Deeds, of Roxbury, and Paul Cheney, of Gaylordsville; two daughters, Terry L. Thorne, of Great Barrington, Mass., and Ann Marie Ovitt, of Gaylordsville; a sister, Gladys Leinbach, of Reading; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary A. Johnson, of Kent.
A memorial gathering will be held Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon, with a prayer service at noon, at Colonial Funeral Home, 87 Park Lane Road, New Milford.
Burial of ashes will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, New Milford, following the service.
