Agnes Rose Ray, 104, of New Milford, widow of Anthony Joseph Ray, died March 3 at the home she shared with her daughter, Bunny DeCarlo.

She was born Aug. 7, 1908, in Ansonia, to Polish immigrant parents Valenti and Emilia Soboliski.

Mrs. Ray was devoted to her family. Her life's work was being a homemaker; she excelled at it.

She loved her pets, gardening and, most of all, always being there for her family. She was always ready to help whoever needed her.

During her later years, Mrs. Ray's great-grandchildren were a great source of joy to her. Being around them kept her young at heart.

She was known for her sense of humor, and she got great pleasure knowing she could always make people laugh, even to the very end.

In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Ray is survived by another daughter, Arline Stefanisko, and her husband, Bill, of New Rochelle, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Deborah Gamble, and her husband, Peter; William Stefanisko, and his wife, Jeanette; Karen Stefanisko; Wayne DeCarlo, and his wife, Susan; and Jodi Traisci, and her husband Matt; and four great-grandchildren, Keith Stefanisko, Niki and Ashley DeCarlo and Emily Rose Traisci.

Calling hours will be private. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated today (Friday) at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, Route 109, New Milford. Burial will follow at St. Rose Cemetery in Newtown.

The Lillis Funeral Home in New Milford is in charge of arrangements.
