To the Editor:

I had the opportunity to hear Cecilia Buck-Taylor speak recently at a New Milford Rotary Club luncheon.

She spoke about opportunities and how important it is for people to take advantage of them when they are made available.

I learned about Cecilia's background growing up in a poor area of Brooklyn, N.Y., taking advantage of an opportunity to attend and graduate from Bronx High School of Science, working her way through SUNY Albany and finally attending Fordham University law school at night while working full time and helping to raise her children.

Cecilia spoke about moving to New Milford more than 20 years ago and eventually starting and running her three businesses here.

What an inspiration she is! Cecilia is living proof the American Dream is alive and well.

Cecilia pointed out how our government -- both state and local -- through their policies are mortgaging away our children's and their children's opportunities.

She is committed to making sure the mortgaging away of our children's future stops.

I want my children and their children to have opportunities to grow into whatever and to wherever their dreams may take them.

I am supporting Cecilia Buck-Taylor for state representative to make sure this happens.
