NEW MILFORD — A local man who reportedly struck a New Milford Police office while driving an ATV on a town road is facing charges for drunken driving and assault of a public safety officer.

Christopher Buckley, 26, of Blue Bonnet Knoll, New Milford was taken into custody Oct. 14 after striking the officer while trying to elude apprehension, police said.

Police had responded to the area of Kent Road and Peagler Hill Road that day for a complaint about ATVs being driven on a public roads. An officer was struck and received minor injuries by Buckley’s ATV, police said.

Buckley was charged with assault on a public safety officer, driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, operating an all-terrain vehicle on a public highway and reckless driving.

He was released on $10,000 bond with a court date Oct. 26 in Superior Court in Bantam.
