The After School Arts Program based in Washington, which serves the northwest region of Connecticut, has received a grant from the Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut.

The $2,500 grant will be used for ASAP's Inter-district Theater Project, which promotes cultural diversity through the arts.

Beginning in February, Emily Hubelbank will lead the Inter-district Theater Project for students in grades 3 through 5.

Region 12 children will work together with students from the Forbes School in Torrington to explore the essential components of theater: learning a role, memorizinglines, making costumes, and building a set.

The three-week workshop will culminate in an in-school performance at Forbes School, as well as an evening performance for the residents of Valerie Manor in Torrington.
