ASAP offers summer theater classes
The After School Arts Program, based in Washington and serving northwest Connecticut, will offer its summer theater intensive program beginning in June.
Two sessions will be available: for students entering grades one to five and for students entering grades six to 12.
Under the guidance of actress/director Emily Hubelbank, the younger students will write their own 30-minute play based on a children's book, and explore music, create dances, and design and build sets and costumes
The session will meet June 24 through July 3 Mondays through Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with a performance July 3 at 11:30 a.m. at locations to be announced.
The participation fee is $325 and includes all materials.
Older students will learn about acting from Hubelbank, costume design from Lesley Neilson-Bowman, and set design and construction from Jon Olivieri, while rehearsing for their performance of "The 39 Steps."
On the last day of the workshop, participants will perform "The 39 Steps."
The workshop will meet June 24 through July 12, except July 4, on Mondays through Fridays from 1 to 5 p.m. and end with a performance July 12 at 7 p.m., at locations to be announced.
The participation fee is $575 and includes all materials.
