‘A Taste of New Milford’ to return
Who doesn’t like to sample food?
Residents of the Greater New Milford area can do that on Sept. 9 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the 10th annual A Taste of New Milford on the Village Green.
Restaurants, caterers, bakers and other food providers will serve samples of their food during the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce event, which is sponsored and organized by Nicholas/Tobin & Associates Insurance.
In addition, nearly 10 vineyards and breweries will be represented, this year serving samples of their beverages in the newly renovated United Bank building at the corner of Main and Bank streets.
About 30 food providers will serve their samples under two large tents, while others will serve food from stand-alone tents around the Green and near the bandstand.
“We want people to have open communication with the restaurants and venues so they can learn more,” said Jeff Kilberg, of the Taste experience.
Kilberg coordinates the event with Richard Herrington, of Nicholas/Tobin.
The Blue Yodels and Friends will provide music at the bandstand.
Favorites such as Primo’s Deli, the Community Culinary School of Northwestern Connecticut, White Horse, The Sweet Spot, Tivoli and Alpenhaus will return.
New participants include Kingsley Tavern and JP Gifford’s of Kent, The Iron Rail, JoJo’s Deli, Dagwood’s New American Lounge, 1 Twenty Two, New Milford Hospital/Plow to Plate and Tonio’s Panino in New Milford, among others.
Tickets are $10 in advance by visiting Nicholas/Tobin at 111 Danbury Road, the chamber office at 11 Railroad St., and Nutmeg Olive Oil Co. at 25 Main St., and $15 at the event.
Children under age 5 will be admitted for free.
Proceeds benefit the culinary school, which provices training and job placement for people interested in the food industry.
