The Region 1 Athletic Fund, of which the town of Kent is included, will hold the second annual Falls Village Mountaineer 5K April 10.

The walk or run event will be held at Housatonic Valley Regional High School on Route 7 in Falls Village.

The 10 a.m. race will feature a start at the front steps of HVRHS, continue around the oval and up scenic Warren Turnpike, to the recently renovated Amesville bridge and back.

It is a flat, out and back course with a small hill midway.

The HVRHS gymnasium will be available for registration and warm-up in the event of inclement weather.

Walkers and pets are welcome.

Eight age divisions will be offered, with three medals to be awarded in each division for both women and men.

The course record of 18:16 was established by Rocco Botto of Cornwall. The top female finisher is Mari Cullerton with a time of 21:25.
