Kent's voter registrars will hold a voter registration session Tuesday, July 29 from 5 to 7 p.m.

As required by law, the session is 14 days before the Republican primary, slated Aug. 12.

The registrars will hear requests by persons removed from the active voting list who would like to be put back on the active list.

A voter may be placed on the inactive list if he or she did not return the canvass letter sent in March, if he or she have not voted in the past four years or the registrars do not have an updated address and the canvass letter was returned undeliverable.

Residents who change parties are not eligible to vote in the upcoming Republican primary.

Mail-in registrations must be received or postmarked no later than Aug. 7, the fifth day before the primary, in order to be eligible to vote in the primary.

Voters may register in person with the town clerk or the registrars.

DMV or mail-in registrations postmarked after Aug. 7 would be processed, but the voters will not be eligible until after the Aug. 12 primary.

The general election will be held Nov. 4 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
