Trunk or Treat might be the wave of the future.

Likely many more than 1,000 reater New Milford-area residents -- a lofty percentage being delighted children -- descended on the New Milford Village Green Oct. 31 to spend their peak Halloween hours.

The New Milford Parks & Recreation Department sponsored its now annual Halloween Trunk or Treat event.

"We believe Trunk or Treat was a huge success again this year," said Dan Calhoun, director of the Parks & Recreation Department.

"We believe that we had between one and 2,000 participants," he chortled.

"The event is a safe alternative to trick-or-treating on dark streets."
