Town kicks off building facade improvement
The New Milford Economic Development Corporation is offering a facade improvement program to local businesses and building owners to improve the exteriors of downtown buildings.
The initiative is a grant and loan program to allow businesses and commercial property owners to refresh the front of their buildings to increase the aesthetic quality of the downtown area.
Applicants can receive up to $5,000 in low-cost funding, including up to $2,500 in grant funding.
The grant and loan funding provides business owners or their landlords the opportunity to install new doors, repaint, repair walls and windows, install cornices, and purchase new awnings as well as other exterior improvements that will beautify the village.
The New Milford Economic Development Corporation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation formed in 2010 to promote economic development in New Milford.
The program will be one of what the group hopes to be many projects to help New Milford businesses.
The corporation's mission is three-tiered: Promotion of the region to encourage business expansion in New Milford; advocacy and support of local businesses; and offering financing programs for existing and new businesses.
