The Kent Historical Society is accepting essay submissions for its time capsule.

A celebration to honor the historical society's 60th anniversary and the town's 275th birthday will be held Oct. 4 at 3 p.m. The time capsule will be sealed at the celebration.

Rain date would be Oct. 5 at 2 p.m.

Residents are invited to answer the question "What will life in Kent be like in 2039 when our town celebrates its 300th birthday?"

The essays will be included in Kent's double birthday celebration time capsule, which will be kept sealed until 2039.

Submissions should be accompanied by the author's name, address and age, if the author is a child, and submitted by Saturday, Sept. 27.

Citations will be awarded for the best essays in categories to be determined, and those predictions will be published in the Kent Historical Society's Newsletter and on its Facebook page.
