Spotlight on students


Patrick Knight graduated with honors May 13 from New York University (NYU) (see photo). The ceremony was held at Yankee Stadium with Secretary of State Hilary Rodham Clinton as the commencement speaker.

While at NYU, Patrick participated as a four-year member of the varsity wrestling team, serving as a captain during his senior season.

He was twice awarded Academic All-American honors by the NCAA. A 2005 graduate of New Milford High School, he is the son of Rod and Trish Knight of New Milford.

He is currently employed at NYU Medical Center in Manhattan.


Scott Alexander Mix, son of Barry and Maryellen Mix of New Milford and a 2005 graduate of New Milford High School, graduated with honors in biology from Loyola College in Maryland (see photo).

During his tenure at Loyola, Scott worked on the reproductive research of glucose and metabolite localization during luteinization of adult female rhesus macaques. He has had two papers published, The Role of Glucose and Metabolites in luteinizaton and The Role of IGFBPs in Granulosa Cell Proliferation.

He has been invited to the Society for the Study of Reproduction's 42nd annual scientific meeting held in Pittsburgh, Pa. in July, where he will present his work.

Scott will attend Northwestern University in the fall to pursue his master's degree in neurobiology and physiology.
