The New Milford Community Culinary School is accepting applications for the next session of its 12-week job training and placement program set to begin Sept. 14.

Tuition is free for qualifying candidates, who must be at least 18. The school was established in 2007 to provide unemployed and underemployed men and women with the skills they need to find jobs with career paths in the food service industry. The program has been successful, placing most of its students in jobs upon graduation.

Instructed by Chef Blythe Roberts, a graduate of the French Culinary Institute, the students will learn a range of cooking techniques in a full-scale kitchen.

In addition to providing hands-on culinary and sanitary instruction, the school arranges internships for all students, trains in life skills necessary to getting and keeping a job, and assists with job placement.

Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church at 7 Whittlesey Ave.
