New Milford has reduced its sewer connection fees for commercial and industrial buildings with the goal of creating a more business-friendly environment.

"The reduction in sewer connection fees is an important development that will positively impact both new and expanding businesses in New Milford," said Luigi Fulinello, the town's economic development director.

"We listened closely to the feedback from the business and development community, and took action to ensure that New Milford continues to be a competitive place to do business," he said.

"I applaud the New Milford Sewer Commission for adopting a new fee structure, and thank Mayor Pat Murphy and the New Milford Economic Development Commission for their support and advocacy on this issue," Fulinello said.

The newly adopted sewer connection fee is based on a charge of $3,500 per 5,000 square feet of usable commercial and industrial floor space.

The previous sewer connection fee had been equivalent to a charge of $5,500 per 5,000 square feet of floor space.
