A debate involving Kent's Democratic and Republican selectmen candidates is scheduled for next Friday, Oct. 23 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Kent Center School. Following the debate, the candidates will be available to meet guests in the cafeteria.

GOP first selectman candidate Karen Casey and Democratic hopeful Bruce Adams will be among those to participate.

Following candidates' opening statements, Art Cummings, editor of The News-Times, and Kathryn Boughton, associate editor of the Litchfield County Times, will interview the selectmen candidates.

Following the question and answer period, the floor will be open for direct questions from the audience.

The debate is being organized by Kent Memorial Library, the Chamber of Commerce, the Kent Informal Club, the Kent Film Festival and Kent Cub Scout Pack No. 11, with local artist Tom Franken.
