Region 12 budget clears latest hurdle
A small turnout of residents to April 2's public hearing gave assurance to the Region 12 Board of Education that its budget proposal for 2013-14 is on track.
The $21.66 million budget proposal by Superintendent of Schools Pat Cosentino was left as presented.
The proposed budget would represents a 1.43 percent increase over the 2012-13 fiscal year.
Cosentino will hold a `meet and greet' May 6 at 1 p.m. at the Washington Senior Center in the Gage-Zumpf Legion Hall to discuss the 2013-14 school budget, the region's strategic plan and consolidation options now being researched.
The referendum vote on the budget is set May 7 from noon to 6 p.m. at regular polling sites in each town -- the Senior Center in Bridgewater, Roxbury Town Hall and Bryan Memorial Town Hall in Washington.
The budget contributions by town (based on student ratio) are: $5.01 million for Bridgewater; $6.87 million for Roxbury; and $9.52 million for Washington.
