The State Election Enforcement Commission is pursuing an investigation into a statement made by Region 1 Superintendent of Schools Patricia Chamberlain during the Aug. 8 special budget hearing at Housatonic Valley High School.
A complaint was filed by Salisbury resident Miles Marshall regarding Chamberlain's offer to donate back her raise or give up the last year of her three-year contract if the 2013-14 education budget were to be approved.
The budget was up for its fifth referendum vote when Chamberlain made the offer.
Marshall said Chamberlain crossed a legal line in offering a "reward" as "an inducement" to get voters to vote yes and pass the budget.
The budget is still undecided.
The Region 1 Board of Education was set to hold a budget workshop Wednesday, Oct. 2 to produce a new proposal for a seventh referendum vote.
