Clothing in the latest styles and fashions adorn the picture window of Rebecca Christine's Consignments, a shop in Marble Dale.
Just across Route 202 from the newly opened White Horse country pub, the consignment shop offers jewelry from local artisans, Maasai fashions from Africa, and high-end labeled tops and dresses.
Opened by Rebecca Christine Tanuis-Perrin in April, the shop is a coming home for the 40-somethin' proprietor who grew up in New Preston, then as Rebecca Moore.
"I'm trying to keep my stock in the latest styles," Ms. Tanuis-Perrin said. "Some people have brought in vintage clothing but I refer them to other shops. I like vintage items but I don't know that end of the business well enough."
Everything came together easily as Ms. Tanuis-Perrin started to put the shop together, she said.
Racks were quickly found. The shop site was available just as she was looking for a location. The shop space was "cozy," just as she had wanted it to be.
"I felt like things were saying 'this is the time to do this,'" she said.
From a British Halligan travel clock to handbags from Bottega Veneta, the shop offers numerous high-end, never-used items.
"I think it's because of the area I'm in. I get a lot of great stuff," Ms. Tanuis-Perrin said. "I think of the shop as a consignment boutique. I enjoy helping customers put outfits together, matching this hand-painted scarf with that Talbot's dress. I've always had an interest in fashion."
Items put in the shop on consignment that don't sell after 60 days are either returned to the consignee or donated to the Visiting Nurse's Washington-Warren thrift shop.
Rebecca Christine's hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
