Proceeds from the tournament benefit MVP-SOS (www.mvpsos.com), a volunteer, non-profit organization supporting New Milford's youth in academic and athletic programs.
The event is named for Bob Rasor, a founding member of MVP-SOS, who believed, along with his fellow charter members, in the value of extracurricular activities via mentorship and guidance.
Tournament host Shayne Newman of YardApes, Inc. said, among others, the following sponsorships "reflect the highlights of MVP-SOS's efforts"--20 SMS students sent on Orlando, Washington, DC and Boston Adventure trips; four NMHS band members sent to Orlando; NMHS cheerleader ssent to London to compete in an international cheer event; seven Eliot Pratt Nature Center scholarships, and the funding of NMHS Film Club equipment.
"Sponsorships," explained Mr. Newman "have been key in helping to raise our three-year total of $23,500. We hope to hear from previous sponsors--friends of the tournament--and look forward to welcoming new sponsors as well."
Player registration deadline is tomorrow (Saturday), July 31. Registration forms can be downloaded from YardApes' website at www.yardapes.org.
Golf day registration and lunch will start at 11 a.m. Dinner at the Bull's Bridge Inn will follow the round at 6 p.m.
