Ralph A. Griffing, 57, owner of 'Tools of the Trade'
Ralph A. Griffing, "Randy," 57, husband of Norma (Raeburn) Griffing of New Milford, died Aug. 2, 2009 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
He attended Brookfield High School and Henry Abbott Tech, where he studied carpentry.
Mr. Griffing worked in the construction business for many years and was also the owner of the local retail store, Tools of the Trade, in both New Milford and Danbury.
Most recently he was employed as a home improvement specialist for Case Remodeling of Wilton.
An avid woodworker, he loved his workshop and furniture making, especially in recent years making cradles, toys and toy boxes.
Along with his wife of 37 years, Norma, and his mother, Sara, he is also survived by his children, Christy Lewis and her husband, Paul, of Winston-Salem, N.C., Shannon Griffing of Raleigh, N.C. and Andrew Griffing of New Milford; a sister, Virginia Genest, of Palm City, Fla.; a brother, Paul Griffing, of Salisbury; four grandchildren, Madelyn and Tyler Lewis and Addison and Payton Hernandez; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
A graveside service will be held today (Friday) at 11 a.m. at Wooster Cemetery in Danbury.
The Brookfield Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
