Polishing a gem
Volunteers share the experience during spring cleanup day at Harrybrooke Park in New Milford
Those closest to Harrybrooke Park in New Milford like to refer to the pristine acreage under their charge as a "hidden gem."
Privately managed but open to the public, the park relies largely on the volunteer efforts of its board of managers and the Friends of Harrybrooke Park to keep things going.
If April 12's annual spring cleanup event is a fair representation, the park, located off Still River Drive, is in good hands.
Bolstered by the work of volunteers from the Boys Scouts and Cub Scouts, from Kohl's department store and others, the cleanup effort accomplished a lot of what needs to be done before the park's official spring opening.
