BRIDGEPORT — Police are investigating after two people were struck by gunfire Monday evening.

Bridgeport’s Shot Spotter system registered gunfire on Seaview Avenue around 7:15 p.m., according to Scott Appleby, the city’s director of emergency management.

Minutes later, the system reported a shooting at the PT Barnum Apartments housing complex on the west side of the city, Appleby said.

At the same time, Bridgeport hospital reported a victim had arrived with a gunshot wound at the emergency room, he said. A second victim with a gunshot wound showed up minutes later.

Police “confirmed from the hospital that the two parties, one a female, had a non-life threatening injury to the shoulder; the other a male party was struck in the wrist,” Appleby said.

Police reported the Seaview Avenue gunfire and one of the victims arriving at Bridgeport Hospital in a tweet around 7:39 p.m.

It’s unclear exactly where the gunfire on Seaview was reported. The road runs from the Post Road south along the waterfront to the point at Johnsons Creek and the Miamogue Yacht Club.
