Gordon Kimlin is closing fast on 90 years young, but you can still call him an American Warrior.

The New Milford resident and World War II veteran was among those last weekend honored in our nation's capital as part of the 6-year-old American Warrior program.

Mr. Kimlin and his World War II comrades, about 100 strong feted by American Warrior, visited the World War II memorial as the highlight of their trip to Washington, D.C.

Mr. Kimlin served at Bermuda Navy Air Base during the war. He now lives with his bride of 62 years, Nita, in New Milford.

American Warrior was started in 2006 with the goal of "supporting and honoring American veterans and patriotic operations."

"Along with sending WWII veterans to their memorial," the American Warrior website reads, "we bring these heroes to schools, senior centers and other fraternal organizations. These heroes have the unique ability to inspire people from all generations."

AmericanWarrior is a registered 501(c)-3 nonprofit organization based in Norwich. Its federal ID number for donations is #26-0758071. For more information about American Warrior, visit www.americanwarrior.us or email warrior@americanwarrior.us.
