New Milford’s Substance Abuse Council received an Award of Recognition from the Housatonic Valley Coalition Against Substance Abuse for its work coordinating youth sessions, forums and a survey gauging attitudes and behavior among the student body.
Youth Agency Advocate Jason O’Connor was also awarded the Carl Bailey Community Asset Builder Award. He was singled out for his commitment and connection with the town’s younger population.
“We are lucky to have him and all of the volunteers on our Substance Abuse Council. Great work,” Mayor David Gronbach said in a press release.
The awards were presented at the Housatonic Valley Coalition Against Substance Abuse’s annual meeting on Sept. 7.
