The Northville Residents' Association recently hosted Kathleen Nelson as its guest speaker for its annual meeting at The Silo.

The Oct. 19 program featured a talk about invasive plants -- how to recognize them and what can be done about them.

Nelson, recent recipient of the Les Mehrhoff Award, is a nationally recognized invasive weed expert and retired biology professor, as well as a longtime member of the New Milford Inland Wetlands Commission.

The Northville Residents' Association was founded in 1989 by a group of interested citizens who were concerned with the future of the community.

The association's purpose is "to maintain and preserve the rural, residential and historic character of the Northville community in the town of New Milford."

"Membership is open to all New Milford residents," association president Robert Gambino said.
