NEW MILFORD — A “public safety incident” at Lovers Leap State Park has caused the park to temporarily close Thursday, according to Will Healey, spokesman for the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

An adult woman has been transported and admitted to New Milford Hospital, Healey said.

DEEP, Environmental Conversvation officers and the New Milford Police responded to the event. As soon as police units have exited, the park will re-open for visitors, Healey said.

This incident follows the death of a Danbury man who was hiking at the park with his family Sunday. The body of 39-year-old Joao P. Lucas was found in Lake Lillinonah Sunday night.
