Local groups to be part of 'Give Local'
Numerous nonprofit organizations in Greater New Milford will participate in the second annual Give Local Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills online giving campaign from noon May 6 to noon May 7.
The campaign is sponsored by the Connecticut Community Foundation.
The campaign kicked off last year, coinciding with Give Local America, a nationwide online giving event marking the centennial anniversary of community foundations in the U.S.
Many of the participating organizations will host special events during the two-day event.

Following are some of the participants and their special events:
The Animal Welfare Society of New Milford on Dodd Road will host a "Cool Cats & Hot Dogs" classic car cruise May 6 from 5:30 p.m. to dusk.
The local shelter serves Bridgewater, Brookfield, New Milford, Roxbury and Washington.
Funds raised will be used for the dogs and cats in its care and support the nonprofit organization's mission of finding homes for them.

The New Milford Historical Society & Museum will host a Giving Day open house May 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the 6 Aspetuck Ave. museum
The museum's exhibit, "The Lost Arts of Domestic Life," will be on view.

The Oratory of the Little Way in Gaylordsville will host a spring harvest event May 6 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Funds raised will support the museum's renovation and expansion of its outdoor Algonkian Village.
