The Connecticut Community Foundation recently awarded its final round of grants to nonprofit organizations for 2011.

Many of the recipients are in the Greater New Milford area.

Local recipients include the After School Arts Program, based in Washington, $14,925 for a technology upgrade to develop an interactive website to handle administrative functions and add a database for tracking customers and donors; the New Milford Historical Society, $1,832 for a development project to redesign the website to be more interactive, develop new revenue streams through online sales of products and services, and make their collection available to the public; and Literacy Volunteers on the Green in New Milford, $3,303 for the 2012 tutor training program.

Also, Montessori School in Washington, $4,400 for the school's eighth-grade cultural and community service trip; the Bridgewater Senior Center, $4,250 for an eight-week Tai Chi pilot series; New Milford Hospital, $8,400 for the Senior Suppers program; and the New Milford Senior Center, $4,999 for the Weatherizaton Project.

In addition, a total of $13,804 was given to numerous support agencies providing food, clothing, shelter and emergency assistance, including New Milford Social Services.
