Lillian S. Thompson, known as "Ma" to many, 78, of New Milford, formerly of Bridgewater, died July 14, 2009. She was the widow of Leslie W. Thompson, to whom she was married for 56 years.
Mrs. Thompson was born Jan. 29, 1931, in New Milford, daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Seymour) Shanks.
Mrs. Thompson was a charter member of the Bridgewater Women's Auxiliary. She and her late husband owned and operated the Bridgewater Gulf for many years before retiring in 1986. She enjoyed watching the Yankees play baseball and being with family.
She is survived by seven children, Lenea Rosato of Ohio; Leslie "Butch" Thompson and his companion, Christine Amorrosi, of Bridgewater, Lillian Lyon and her husband, Mark, of Washington, Larry Thompson and his wife, Barbara, of Roxbury, Laura Newkirk and her husband, Dean, of New Milford, Lynn Thompson and his wife, Lynn, of Roxbury, and Robbie Thompson and his wife, Zandra, of Southbury; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and five sisters.
The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements.
