Kent voters will make their call Tuesday, May 8 during a referendum on the Region 1 education budget.

The Region 1 referendum on a proposed $14.8 million budget for 2012-13 will take place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Kent Town Hall.

Kent's share would be $2.58 million, a 1.6 percent increase over the current fiscal year.

Voters will decide May 18 in an 8 p.m. town meeting about the proposed combined municipal and education budget of $11.09 million -- a 2.63 percent increase over this year.

Of that figure, $6.58 million would be education spending and $4.21 million would be for town operations, debt service and capital.

An additional $311,000 would be included as the 2012-13 portion of a five-year capital plan.
