Andrea Rynn has been honored as a "grassroots champion" for her work with the Western Connecticut Health Network.

The American Hospital Association Grassroots Champion award was presented to the New Milford resident recently during the Connecticut Hospital Association's annual meeting.

Rynn serves as the director of public and government relations for the health network, which includes New Milford and Danbury hospitals.

Rynn was recognized for "her exceptional leadership in generating grassroots and community support for issues of importance to hospitals and health care."

"Andrea Rynn is a true leader in advocacy," said Jennifer Jackson, the CHA president and CEO.

"She has a single-minded focus on the welfare of people in western Connecticut," she added, "and is engaged in working with legislators to develop substantive solutions to critical issues facing WCHN and the people for whom it cares."

Rynn has worked at WCHN for nearly nine years, serving in a variety of public affairs roles.

She also serves on the board of the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce and the advisory board of the Community Culinary School of Northwestern Connecticut, among other activities.
