Home sustains heavy fire damage

A Tuesday morning blaze at 58 Front of The Mountain Road in Gaylordsville was quickly put out by local firefighters.

Chief Carl Fuchs of the Gaylordsville Volunteer Fire Department said a 911 call came at approximately 6:20 a.m. and firefighters were soon on the scene. The fire was knocked down within 15 minutes of their arrival, Chief Fuchs said.

Heavy damage occurred to the left end of the 1,756-square-foot, modern structure in the Gaylordsville section of New Milford.

"The whole left end of the structure was in heavy flames when we arrived," Chief Fuchs said. "The flames pushed up from under the back porch. We had to force our way in through the front door and found that interior end of the house in heavy flames."

The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Vision Appraisal records show the property is owned by Frouwjke and Stephanie Pagani of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Firefighters from Northville Vounteer Fire Department and Water Witch Hose Co. No. 2 from New Milford responded with mutual aid.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
