Donors recently contributed more than $373,000 to 147 nonprofit organizations in the region, according to the Connecticut Community Foundation, which serves the Greater New Milford area.

Donations were given May 6-7 during the CCF's second Give Local Greater Waterbury & Litchfield Hills online giving campaign.

Participating nonprofits will share more than $75,000 in matching funds provided by CCF's sponsors.

Additionally, throughout the campaign's 24 hours, many organizations were awarded cash prizes from the more than $85,000 prize pool.

Give Local Greater Waterbury & Litchfield Hills was part of Give Local America, a national charitable giving day in which the CCF joined its peers across the country in celebration of the 100th anniversary of community foundations and the vital role these organizations play in fostering local philanthropy.

More than 7,000 participating nonprofits collectively raised more than $50 million nationwide.
