Funeral set for New Fairfield murder-suicide victim
NEW FAIRFIELD — Services have been set for the local man who died recently in a murder-suicide.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church in Stony Point, N.Y. for victim Michael Ciorra, according to his obituary. He will be buried at 12:15 p.m. Thursday at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y.
The obituary describes him as a “loving father” to his two sons, Dylan and Jake.
“There are no words to express the heavy loss our family is suffering,” Justine Ciorra, a relative, wrote on the funeral home’s website. “You were an amazing dad and son. I can only promise you that I will do my best to honor your memory and raise Dylan and Jake with you always in mind.”
The family asked donations in lieu of flowers be made to “Fund for Dylan & Jake Ciorra, C/O Paul & Anthony Ciorra, 1325 Whittier Ave. Merrick, NY 11566.”
Michael Ciorra was a director of finance for Globalfoundries at its manufacturing facility in East Fishkill, N.Y.
State police have released little information about the murder-suicide, other than to say it is a domestic violence case and police’s investigation began at 4:30 p.m. April 15 on Cornell Road. Sgt. Dwight Washington, state police spokesman, said the time of death is still part of the investigation, although the medical examiner’s office had said the couple died Monday.
Michael Ciorra died from a blunt injury of the head and stab wounds to the torso, the state medical examiner’s office said.
An obituary for Jennifer Ciorra, whose death the medical examiner ruled a suicide, is not available. She died from acute carbon monoxide intoxication, according to the medical examiner’s office.
