School boards in the Greater New Milford area have announced their policy for determining eligibility of children who may receive free or reduced price meals served under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program.

Local school officials have adopted the United States Department of Agriculture's Income Eligibility Guidelines following family size and income criteria for determining eligibility:

Free meals

Number in family, 1; annual gross income, $14,079; monthly gross income, $1,174; bi-weekly gross income, $542; weekly gross income, $271.

Number in family, 2; annual gross income, $18,941; monthly gross income, $1,579; bi-weekly gross income, $729; weekly gross income, $365.

For each additional family member, add $4,862 to determine annual gross income; add $406 to determine monthly gross income; add $187 to determine bi-weekly gross income; and add $94 to determine weekly gross income.

Reduced price meals

Number in family, 1; annual gross income, $20,036; monthly gross income, $1,670; $771 for bi-weekly gross income; weekly gross income, $386.

Number in family, 2; annual gross income, $26,955; monthly gross income, $2,247; bi-weekly gross income, $1,037; weekly gross income, $519.

For each additional family member, add $6,919 to determine annual gross income; add $577 to determine monthly gross; add $267 to determine bi-weekly gross income; and add $134 to determine weekly gross income.
