Police: Driver who sideswiped oncoming car in Derby charged
DERBY — One person was taken to the hospital for evaluation and another was arrested after a crash Thursday morning, according to officials.
The accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. Thursday when two vehicles collided on David Humphreys Road, officials said.
Lt. Sal Frosceno on Friday said a 39-year-old man veered into the oncoming lane of traffic and side-swiped a car headed in the other direction.
The 39-year-old was arrested and charged with failure to drive in a proper lane and driving a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
Firefighters had to remove the driver’s side door to remove the person from the other vehicle, officials said.
Frosceno said the driver was taken to Griffin Hospital to be evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries.
